Carrier Employees Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity During its Annual Home is the Key Campaign
Carrier collaborated with Habitat for Humanity on its eighth annual Home is the Key campaign to bring awareness to equitable homeownership. As a global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, Carrier supports organizations that promote sustainable environmental solutions and advancement of the communities in which we live and work.
This spring, nearly 240 Carrier employee volunteers supported Habitat for Humanity affiliates nationwide by participating in home builds or other volunteer opportunities in California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina and Washington.
The campaign kicked off on April 11, the anniversary of the Fair Housing Act of 1968, with a volunteer and community outreach event at a build site in Long Beach, California. The legislation prohibits discrimination of the sale, rental and financing of housing based on race, religion, sex and more. The new 36-unit condo development located in a historically Black neighborhood is the largest project in the history of Habitat LA. It also will offer many sustainable elements, including energy efficient features, insulation made of recycled content, low-flow plumbing fixtures, solar panels, drought tolerant yards and more. Carrier employee volunteers assisted with preparing emergency and hygiene kits for the local unhoused community.
In addition to supporting the Home is the Key campaign, Carrier also committed to donate HVAC systems to local Habitat affiliates in Indianapolis and Palm Beach. Carrier strives to improve our planet, people and communities through sustainable solutions, and has supported Habitat’s mission for 28 years through employee volunteerism, financial support and product donations.
