Carrier Honors Black History Month | Celebration of African Americans and the Arts
In celebration of Black History Month, Carrier proudly honored the legacy of Blacks and African American individuals who have not only transformed history but left an indelible mark with their incredible achievements in the face of adversity. The Carrier Black Alliance (CBA) Employee Resource Group organized several activities to provide employees with opportunities to reflect on Carrier’s continuing journey to become a truly inclusive workplace. The CBA is dedicated to attracting, retaining, inspiring and reinforcing the value of Black employees at Carrier.
“The theme of Black History Month this year is ‘Celebrating African Americans and the Arts’ – an opportunity not only to recognize Blacks and African Americans in the arts and how they became change agents through their crafts – but also a chance for Carrier to continue to strengthen our organization through the diversity of all people,” said Nikki Lockett, Executive Director, Global Brand Strategy & Marketing, Carrier, and CBA Co-Chair. “Carrier is making, and has made, remarkable strides.”
Black History Month kicked off with CBA members enjoying a fun-filled session of Family Feud. Modeled after the popular television game show, the social event for CBA members included questions about African American and Black pop culture. The month’s activities included an invigorating panel event with Carrier leaders who discussed the importance of inclusion and diversity at Carrier. CBA members also networked with several Carrier leaders and colleagues during a virtual event to identify mentorship opportunities. Several sites also hosted networking activities for CBA members to celebrate and collaborate.
